Keyboard Replacement Instructions for Acer Aspire 3610 |
Replacing the keyboard on your Acer Aspire 3610 laptop is not as difficult as it may sound. Make sure your computer is unplugged from any power source, then remove the battery. Now remove the LCD cover. With any luck, the monitor hinges should detach first. If not, free each corner of the LCD cover to loosen the hinges then use and long, thin object like a screwdriver to pull the cover up. Work free all fastening tabs until you have removed the LCD cover.

There is only one screw securing the keyboard into position, which is located above the F5 key. Remove this screw before trying to pry up the keyboard.

Now detach the keyboard’s ribbon cable from the connector attached to the motherboard. Each side of the front of the connector has a small tab that lock the ribbon cable into place. To unlock the ribbon cable, using your fingernails, pull the two tabs out from the connector (only about 3mm) until the ribbon cable is loose and the keyboard can be removed.

To replace the keyboard, simply follow these instructions in reverse, using either your fingernail to press the connector locks closed again after you have firmly seated the cable within the connectors. Be sure both sides of each connector lock are seated properly to avoid future problems.
