Laptop docking stations and port replicators allow the laptop PC to be easily transformed into a stationary computer upon your return to home or business.
The port replicator or docking station connects to the notebook computer using a single connection, and then accepts several connections from such devices as your keyboard, mouse, printer, serial device, network cable, speakers, or USB cables and devices. Some port replicators are designed to permit the laptop computer to be placed at an angle with the LCD screen opened up more than usual and raised to a more ergonomic position. The Dell D/View (when used in conjunction with a D/Port port replicator) and Kensington Notebook stand are two examples that accomplish this.
